June 9th, 2007 by ailon

User vwessel has reported a major bug in version 2.0.4 in our forums. We will be releasing a fixed version on Monday, June 11. Until then we suggest that you don’t upgrade to 2.0.4 or manually apply a quick fix described in a/m thread.

We are terribly sorry for inconvinience.

SPAW Editor PHP Edition 2.0.4 Released

June 7th, 2007 by ailon

We have just released version 2.0.4 of SPAW Editor PHP Edition.

This release fixes some outstanding issues like undo/redo functionality in IE, CSS classes for table cells, plus many more. It also adds and updates a couple of language files for both core and Spaw File Manager plugin. A couple of new features were added too.

2.0.4 is available for immediate download through our download page.

Now we plan to take a closer look at Safari support which we can do thanks to Oliver Georgi - the creator of phpwcms - open source content management system.

Here’s a complete change log for version 2.0.4:

 1. FEATURE ADDED: SpawFm plugin: added settings (”forbid_extensions”, ”forbid_extensions_strict”) to disallow uploading insecure files;
 2. FEATURE ADDED: added “page_body” to event subsystem to add events to page’s body object

 8. BUGFIX: SpawFm plugin: fixed files filtering by selected filetype
 9. FIX: when using toolbar buttons in Firefox focus wasn’t returned back to editing area so that you can type further without clicking inside the editing area first
 10. FIX: & in href and src attributes is now replaced with &
 11. FIX: added rows and cols attributes on textarea
 12. FIX: added ALT attribute on resizing grip
 13. FIX: converted all attribute names to lowercase on toolbar buttons

Changes in Commercial Licensing

June 7th, 2007 by ailon

We have analyzed our data and decided to introduce some minor changes in commercial licensing scheme. Starting from June 7, 2007 licensing scheme changes as follows:

 1. we have removed “single server” license since it wasn’t popular and caused confusion
 2. we have added volume discounts for “single site” licenses but increased the price of a single license to justify management and processing expenses for small amounts

We understand that these changes could be a surprise for some of you, so we created discount coupon codes for those who were planning to purchase a/m licenses:

 1. to get 34% discount on single site licenses enter coupon code “706site” (without quotes) in the purchase form
 2. to get 51 EURO discount on enterprise license enter coupon code “706ent” (without quotes) in the purchase form

Coupons are valid until the end of June, 2007. So, don’t miss this opportunity.

Purchase links are available through our “purchase” page

Two Steps Forward One Step Back

June 6th, 2007 by ailon

I’ve used Windows Liver Writer Beta 1 to post to this blog and to my personal blog too. Now Beta 2 came out and it has new features, looks better, etc. One of the new features is “inline spell checking”. They even removed spellckecking toolbar button and menu item in favor of this automatic inline checking. There’s only one little problem though: it looks like this inline spell checking only works on Windows with English locale and since there’s no button for manual spellchecking all the world outside of US, UK and few other countries is f*cked (excuse my spelling)

June 6th, 2007 by ailon

The manual for using SPAW Editor v.2 in WordPress 2, which I accidentally deleted while cleaning spam in our forums, has been restored. Thanks to Stefan, web designer from Germany, now you can use SPAW with the most popular blogging engine in the world.

Hooray! And thanks to Stefan!

You can find the tutorial here. And hopefully I wont delete it again ;)

Mac G3

Thanks to our friend Oliver Georgi - the creator of phpwcms - open source content management system we are proud owners of this beautiful PowerMac G3 and now we can start working on Safari friendly version of SPAW Editor.

Oliver kindly paid all associated expenses. So, those of you who wanted to donate to this cause back when we were trying to raise money for Mac purchase, can share our gratitude to Oliver and donate to future development of his fine CMS.

WordPress Tutorial Deleted by Accident :(

May 14th, 2007 by ailon

I was cleaning forums from SPAM (hate you spammers!) and unfortunatelly I’ve missed a topic called “Tutorial: Using SpawEditor in Wordpress 2.1″ and deleted it together with all those nasty penis enlargement topics :(

In case a person who posted it reads this (or someone who used this tutorial and can recreate the steps) I and the whole community will be grateful if you can post it again or send the tutorial to me at alan@solmetra.lt

Thank you very much and sorry for my carelesness!

One Time Offer You Don’t Want to Miss!

April 18th, 2007 by ailon

The next purchase of commercial SPAW Editor license will mark an important milestone in sales so we decided to issue a single coupon code for this occasion which lets you buy one Enterprise license at unprecedented 100 euro price (60% discount!).

It was never sold this cheap before and wont be for quite some time in the future. So one lucky buyer can get it at the lowest price ever!

To get this discount just enter coupon code “round” (without quotes) when ordering Enterprise license. And remember that it’s a single item promotion so you have to act fast if you don’t want to miss it.

Update: sold!

Safari Support Fundraising is Over

March 19th, 2007 by ailon

Yesterday was the last day of our safari support effort. Unfortunately we have collected pledges for only $225 so neither the initial target nor our backup target were met.

We will evaluate other options of getting a Mac and implementing Safari support but no timeframe could be set at this point.

In case you are the one of those nice people who made a pledge, your credit card (or other source) wont be charged. Thank you very much for trying to help! And don’t forget that no matter that fundraising effort failed, you are entitled to 10% discount on any commercial license and this discount could be combined with other discounts (like at the time of this writing we are running CeBIT promotion with enterprise license selling at 199 euro instead of 250 and you can get additional 10% discount so the price would be less than 180). Drop us a line to spaw@solmetra.com to get your coupon code.

SPAW Editor PHP Edition version 2.0.3 is available for download from our download page

We have added a feature to customize predefined colors in colorpicker,
implemented an optional feature to convert special characters to html entities like ©, —, etc., and brought back highly requested quick image insert feature from SPAW 1.x. Fix for an ugly bug when editor wasn’t usable over HTTPS under Firefox is also included.

Not everything what was planned for this release was implemented but we thought that these changes are too important to just sit on them while we implement other features and fixes.

Here’s a complete change log:

 1. FEATURE ADDED: optional feature to convert special characters to respectable html entities like © etc.
 2. FEATURE ADDED: added a feature to quickly insert an image (in SPAW 1.x style)
 3. FEATURE ADDED: predefined colors in color picker dialog could be customized
 4. BUGFIX: removed unnecessary empty lines at the end of most language files
 5. BUGFIX: numbered list items where rendered with value=”-1″ under Firefox
 6. BUGFIX: SpawFm plugin: removed empty spaces in the end of include files
 7. BUGFIX: under Gecko content area wasn’t editable after the first load when working over HTTPS
 8. BUGFIX: additional bugfix for https under firefox issue: images were rendered as broken in editor
 9. BUGFIX: SpawFm plugin: files were not listed when using HTTPS with Firefox
 10. BUGFIX: SPAW usurped document’s mousemove and mouseup events
 11. COSMETIC FIX: removed extra quote from the dialog_footer.tpl in spaw2 theme
